I'm 3 Months Old Today!

Just like all the books say, 3 months old is definately a milestone marker.
Casey is sleeping anywhere from 10-12 hours at night, going down at 8pm and waking around 3:30 or 4 to eat for 15 minutes typically....so she has increased her stretches from 6 to 8 hours. Sometimes she sleeps 10 hours straight, and every once in a while as little as 6.
Her 2 naps in the moring are usually 40 min to an hour long...as well as one afternoon nap for about an hour.

She is eating about 25 oz a day or so, and weighs about 12 pounds.
She has also graduated to a "modified monkey hold" (easier on the wrists) but now likes to be carried around if she is overtired...DO NOT TRY AND SIT DOWN!! She always knows....

Oh.. and still dont really try putting her down drowsy but awake yet, but I figure if she is sleeping such long stretches there has to be times where she wakes up and puts herself back to sleep...at least I hope so.

She also LOVES being outside, if she is fussy AT ALL and I walk in the back with her she calms down rather quickly, then we come back inside and eat...then she falls asleep. I dont know if it is the heat or just being outdoors, guess we will find out this fall and winter. But typically every night Joe and I sit outside with her while she looks around, and it usually shortens or avoids the "personal fussy time" aka "witching" right before bed.
I am returning to work in a week and a half, and of course have mixed emotions. Mostly about how she will adjust to daycare, and if it will mess up her napping or happiness.
Will she remember who I am when she hasnt seen me for 10 hours? :(

I am anxious for whats ahead....but Casey is progressing just wonderfully.

Maybe one day, I will win the lotto...till then this is what we call life!

Mommy and Daddy Sing this to me! It's My New Favorite Song

Little Boxes by Malvina Reynolds

Little boxes on the hillside, Little boxes made of tickytacky
Little boxes on the hillside, little boxes all the same
There's a green one and a pink one and a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky tacky and they all look just the same.
And the people in the houses all went to the university
Where they were put in boxes and they came out all the same,
And there's doctors and there's lawyers, and business executives
And they're all made out of ticky tacky and they all look just the same.
And they all play on the golf course and drink their martinis dry,
And they all have pretty children and the children go to school
And the children go to summer camp and then to the university
Where they are put in boxes and they come out all the same.
And the boys go into business and marry and raise a familyIn boxes made of ticky tacky and they all look just the same

All Dressed Up!

Going out to eat in my fancy dress that Bogie got me.

Back on Track...I Think

So I think she is getting back to normal and even improving.
Friday night was a new record for her, she went to bed at 8:30pm and woke up at 6:30am with NO NIGHTIME FEEDING. 10 hours!!! Pretty good.

Last Night she went to bed at 8:30, woke up at 4:30am ate for 15 min and is currently still asleep at 7:04am. I hate to think what going back to work and getting her up at 5:30 is going to do to her. But I wont think about that now. At least she is sleeping better!!

Oh...and one more thing. It never fails, she sleeps the longest shifts when it's Daddy's night to get up with her.

hmmmmmmmm

I Spoke Too Soon...

Casey's sleep habits have dwindled the past few nights

She has been waking up twice a night now...and up EARLY at 6am or so.
I think it's partially my fault. When I go and check on her it never fails, within 15 minutes she is awake. Not really sure how to remedy that except to stay in bed and convince myself that she is still breathing.

I hope this is just a fluke, and that when she was sleeping really well THAT wasnt a fluke.
That would just be cruel :(

Cross your fingers.

I have the keys....so where is MY Lexus?

2 Month Checkup and Shots!

So on Friday we had her 2 month well baby checkup.
Casey's Stats:

Weight: 11.05
Head: 38.5
Body Length: 23 1/2

Dr Addy says her weight is good, and she will have a long and lean build. She needs to be around 13 pounds for her next appt on Oct 2, so an average weight gain of about a pound a month.
She was very good during the whole appt, didnt cry at all during the checkup, and Dr Addy said she had very good head control, and next step is pushing up with her arms and eventually rolling over.

She had 5 shots, 3 in the left leg and 2 in the right, and an oral rotovirus (stomach flu). I think she sensed what was happening when she got the oral, because the nurse started pressing up against her legs to prepare for the injections. OF course she screamed and cried....poor thing. We got her calmed down pretty quickly after that, it's funny she actually fell asleep...or "went to her happy place" as Kris calls it BEFORE we got in the car to go home. She slept the whole way and was groggy during dinner. She took it all pretty well, I think. I preemptively gave her tylenol before and 4 hours after the appt as well.

Understandibly before bedtime was rough, it took us about an hour to get her down. She wound up falling asleep around 9, getting up at 2 for a 15 minute feeding then back down till 7am. I was worried the shots would mess up the routine we have been building for the last several days but it didnt!

So for about 5 days or so she is getting about 10 hours of sleep a night, with one very short nighttime feeding. She is a very good girl.

I haven't tried the whole putting her down drowsy but awake yet, but the books say around 3 months. So we have time. :)

2 Nights in a Row!!!

So just as we were discussing getting rid of our 5 am feeding (an hour before we HAVE to get up) the past 2 nights Casey has gone to bed at 8:45, and 8:30 respectively, woken up from 2:45 to 3:00 for 2 oz of formula, and gone back to sleep no trouble until 6:45, or so for an average of 9 hours and 45 to ten hours of sleep! Actually I am typing this at 7am and she is still asleep ....but I suspect she wont sleep too much longer.

It's super exciting, and cross your fingers that it sticks. I'm hoping she just outgrew the early morning feeding, but we shall see.

I do feel guilty about not changing her diaper, but all the books say not to as it disturbs their "dream feed" so I haven't the past 2 nights and it seems to be working so far.

Also the little girl has her 2 month check later this afternoon and has to get 4 SHOTS :(
not looking forward to that, I hope everything goes ok. Will keep you posted!
